Ms Adeyeye Adeola, better known as Chef Deo has completed her 150-hour marathon cooking time by an individual she set for herself in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) currently held by compatriot, Hilda Effiong Bassey (Hilda Baci).

Hilda, the Akwa Ibom celebrity chef, had on May 15, this year, set a time of 93 hour and 11 minutes to beat an earlier time of 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds, set by Indian chef, Lata Tondon in 2019.

Adeola, from Ondo is the second Nigerian chef to attempt to break Hilda Baci’s less than two month-old Guinness World Record (GWR), after a failed effort by an Ekiti chef, Ms Damilola Adeparusi, had unsuccessfully launched a 120-hour solo marathon cooking, last month.

Adeola’s latest effort which she tagged as ‘Deocookathon,’ began June 30th in Ondo state. She has continued cooking despite completing her 150-hour mark.

A post on her official Instagram handle read: “150 hours and still counting. The journey was rough but we pulled through.”

Billed to hold at the Nicon Luxury in Abuja on July 20, this year, the AGM of FTAN will be the first official forum for the newly-inaugurated governor to unveil his masterplan geared towards raising significant investments in upgrading and developing tourism infrastructure in the Akwa Ibom State.

Governor Eno was sworn inaugurated into office on May 29, this year.

The governor who is also the FTAN AGM’s Special Guest, is expected use the forum to talk on how the ARISE agenda will propel Akwa Ibom tourism to new heights.

According to FTAN, its partnership with the Akwa Ibom Government is strategic to achieving the ARISE agenda for the growth of the tourism industry in Akwa Ibom State.

It would be recalled that FTAN had, last June, announced that Governor Eno will AGM on July 20, 2023.

National President of FTAN, Mr Nkereuwem Onung who disclosed this in a statement, said Eno’s promise ‘shows his openness to tourism promotion and development.’

Onung said the governor promising to be part of the AGM is a sign of better thing to come, adding that the governor’s move is a sign of readiness to not only give tourism a place in the scheme of things, but also rally and form alliance with the organised private sector to boost the tourism promotion.

The FTAN president assured that this year’s AGM is going to be an interesting one because the well-crafted theme; ‘Tourism: Today and Tomorrow- Setting Agenda for the New Administration,’ is timely and prompt to meet the trend of things in the country as Nigeria is experiencing a new face of leadership trend.

“Also to make the event grander, people engaging and a touch of sincerity of purpose, we added a sub-theme; ‘Community Involvement in Tourism Development: Building Partnerships for Sustainable,’ to create a B2B collaboration afterwards.”

Meanwhile, the ARISE agenda of the Governor Eno seeks to grow the state’s tourism industry through; “Enhanced Infrastructure: Significant investments in upgrading and developing tourism infrastructure in Akwa Ibom State.

“Sustainable Tourism Initiatives: By implementing eco-friendly measures, conserving natural resources, and protecting the region’s rich biodiversity, its stunning landscapes and unique ecosystems will be preserved for generations to come.

“Cultural Heritage Preservation: Akwa Ibom State boasts a wealth of cultural treasures waiting to be discovered.

“Destination Marketing and Promotion: Through strategic campaigns, collaborations with travel influencers, and participation in international tourism events, Akwa Ibom can be positioned as a must-visit destination, capturing the attention of travelers from around the globe.

“Community Involvement and Empowerment: By engaging local communities in the tourism sector, providing training and opportunities for entrepreneurship, and supporting local businesses, AKS can create a sustainable tourism ecosystem that benefits the people,” the state government said.

According to Eno, ‘with the ARISE agenda, Akwa Ibom State is poised to become a premier tourism destination, offering breathtaking landscapes, vibrant culture, and unforgettable experiences.’
