Tourism minister, Ade-John receives Gabon’s First Lady with Prince Harry, wife in Abuja

Minister of Tourism, Ms Lola Ade-John, weekend, in Abuja, received the visiting First Lady of the Republic of Gabon, Mrs Mrs. Zita Oligui Nguema, at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Mrs Nguema was accompanied on the visit to Nigeria by the son of the ruling King of England, and Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry with his wife and Duchess of Sussex, Princess Meghan Markle.

According to the ministry’s spokesperson, the prestigious meeting, which took place on Monday, May 13, 2024, marked a significant exchange of diplomatic and cultural ties between Nigeria and Gabon, as the Nigerian minister also used the opportunity of the encounter to reaffirm her dedication to fostering global connections and promoting tourism, graciously hosted the distinguished guests.

The occasion at the Presidential Wing, also witnessed the Minister of Tourism, Ms Ade-John extend a warm welcome to Mrs Nguema, just as she stated that it was not only an opportunity for diplomatic dialogue but also a chance to celebrate shared values and interests.

The meeting showcased a moment of camaraderie and mutual respect among these influential figures, further signifying a promising step forward in bolstering bilateral relations and fostering collaboration in various domains, including tourism, culture, and socio-economic development.

The Prince and his wife were in to promote the Invictus Games, an initiative the former founded to support the rehabilitation of wounded and sick service members and veterans, including Nigerian soldiers engaged in a 14-year conflict against Islamic extremists.

While in the country, the Prince visited the Defence Headquarters in Abuja and Kaduna State, while his wife, the Duchess Meghan co-hosted the Women in Leadership event in Abuja.

The Gabon First Lady, Mrs Nguema was also in attendance at the Women in Leadership event in Abuja.

The Sussexes have since departed Nigeria after a whirlwind 72 hours in the country.
